Roseberry Sports and Community College is a state comprehensive school, Sports College and sixth form in County Durham, England, founded in 1956. The College Principal is Mrs. Ann Bowen, who is also a geography textbook author[1] for the examination board AQA.
The school is housed on a very large single site holding approximately 700 pupils in the Pelton, County Durham / Newfield, Chester-le-Street / Ouston, County Durham areas.
Students are separated into three houses inside the site on arrival, these being Finchale, Ravensworth and Lumley; House Co-ordinators run the houses and work with the Heads of School who are as follows: Mr. I Liddle (Lower); Mrs. L Parkin (Middle); Mr. M. Cass (Upper and also Head of Sixth Form Centre).

The College achieved Sports College status in c. 2003. The PE department enjoys some of the best facilities in the Local Authority with a gym, sports hall, enclosed and flood-lit AGS pitch (Artficial Grass Surface), full-sized climbing wall, athletics track, tennis, netball and outdoor basketball courts as well as approximately 20 hectares of sports fields (making it one of the largest school sites in County Durham).
As of March, 2010, Roseberry Sports and Community College was named as one of the "most improved specialist schools" by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.[2] It narrowly lost out on the "Most Improved in the North East Region" prize to nearby Oxclose Community School.
As of December, 2010, Roseberry Sports and Community College received confirmation from the BBC that it is a winning school for the BBC/British Council’s Olympic Schools search.[3] As part of being a winning school, Roseberry Sports and Community College has been twinned with Colégio Certo in Piaui, in the North-East of Brazil which was the high school of Sarah Menezes. The two colleges will work collaboratively with others on activities and projects with all year groups in the lead up to the 2012 London Olympic games.
As of June, 2011, Roseberry Sports and Community College won the The RBS Personal Finance Education Awards for Schools.[4] The College won the "The Best all-round approach to Personal Finance Education", beating off UK-wide competition.
